Anti-aircraft guns on USS Phoenix (CL-46), Mindoro, 1944
Here we see some of the anti-aircraft guns on the Brooklyn class light cruiser USS Phoenix (CL-46), seen during the battles around Mindoro on 18 December 1944. On the left are three 5in/ 25 duel purpose guns, here seen in their anti-aircraft role. To their right are three 2omm Oerlikon AA guns. At the top of the picture are two twin 40mm Bofors guns. The expressions on the faces suggests that this was a real alarm, and not posed for the pictures.
